NOTICE TO VOLUNTEERS: Protecting the health and safety of everyone is our top priority. In order to limit the number of people who have contact with the high-risk population we serve, we are TEMPORARILY suspending the use of volunteers in our Meals on Wheels program effective Friday 3/20/2020. Thursday will be the last day volunteers will deliver until further notice. Alternative delivery arrangements utilizing our staff drivers to deliver all meals every other day, bringing a hot meal for that day and a frozen meal for the next day, is being implemented. This is only temporary, as we rely heavily on our volunteers to be able to deliver a hot meal every day. We hope to get back to everyday meals with our volunteers by our side as soon as safe to do so.
We appreciate you and look forward to your return!!!
As a volunteer for Nutrition & Services for Seniors, you will be providing an invaluable support system for seniors and home bound disabled adults in Jefferson and Hardin counties. Being a part of the Good Apple Corps will help seniors remain in their own homes and avoid unecessary and unwanted institutionalization.
Volunteers transporting meals help to stretch funds so that we continue to expand to meet a growing need. More volunteers allow more people to have a meal who are now going hungry. A volunteer may be the only person the home bound talk to that day. Check out our quarterly newsletter here!
