For over a century, the employees of Del Papa Distributing have continued a proud tradition of supporting and strengthening the many communities in which their consumers, customers and employees live and we’re overjoyed that they have selected Nutrition & Services for Seniors as a cause worthy of their time, talents and financial support!  We can’t thank you all enough for believing in us and our efforts to serve the homebound in our community!  Thank you for your tremendous contribution – you have truly helped us in delivering the difference to our homebound neighbors!  

The Big Event, a national day of volunteering, was indeed a very BIG successful day for Nutrition and Services for Seniors. On an absolutely exquisite Saturday morning we were thrilled to have seven dedicated Lamar University students and Lamar Professor Dr. Margot Gage along with her two adorable daughters walk through our door with their energy, big smiles and dedication to service. Within a brief two hour period, this extraordinary team assembled over 1,200 shelf stable meals which will be delivered to our clients for the Easter holiday. We maintain an inventory of these shelf stable meals which can be stored without refrigeration for our clients when we are closed for holidays or to use in the event of an emergency.  The many duties covered by our staff leave no time to assemble these meals and we are dependent on volunteers to help with this very important task.  To the Lamar University Team we say a very BIG THANK YOU for sharing your time with us. Working with you was a delightful and treasured experience.

This photo shows our big payoff for participating in the Lamar University Volunteer Fair. This year, Nutrition and Services for Seniors had the opportunity to participate in the Fair to encourage Lamar students to volunteer for our agency.  We provide about 1500 meals, five days a week for senior citizens in Hardin and Jefferson Counties and always need more volunteers to help with preparation and delivery.   When these six students, who are also members of the LU NAACP, arrived with their energetic personalities and beautiful smiles we all felt like we won the lottery.  They took time to learn about all of our operations and our services and then organized pet food for our AniMeals program in which we provide nutritious meals for the pets of our clients who cannot afford pet food.  The big supply of pet food we had on hand came to us through the Veterinary Clinic of Dr. Suzi Hahn who is an extraordinary supporter of our agency.  To Billy Foster II, Valencia Stewart, Rachel Davis, Roosevelt Mathews III, Janerika Livingston and Camden Thornton, we say a huge HOORAY and THANK YOU for bringing so much joy and sunshine into our day.   What a wonderful experience to see young people who are very busy with their university studies caring deeply about other people.
