Look who's making breakfast! Will and Lauren Naas and Audrey Martinez giving up time in the pool to share their summer with Nutrition & Services for Seniors Meals on Wheels clients. The breakfasts they assembled were delivered to appreciative clients on Friday. Way to go! There’s no age requirement for knowing the joy of helping others.

We can’t say enough about our visit to Central Middle School in Nederland where we had the opportunity to teach the extraordinary students of the Canine Christians a little more about the services we offer at Nutrition & Services for Seniors. This wonderful group of middle school students were excited to learn about all we do to help the seniors in our community and even presented us with approximately 150 lbs. of canned goods for a our pantry along with a whopping $1,000 contribution, which they raised themselves through a campus event! Thank you to the students and faculty of the Canine Christians, your support will help us to continue delivering the difference to our homebound neighbors well into the future!

Each year, we invite our volunteers to come together for a celebration honoring all they do to help us ‘deliver the difference’ to seniors in our community. This year, we gathered at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church to celebrate our STARS with a Hollywood themed banquet equipped with a red carpet, live entertainment, a delectable meal, door prizes and fun for everyone! We want to again thank everyone who helped in making this evening possible and a special thank you to ALL of our volunteers who enable us to continue serving our home bound neighbors! For more information about becoming a volunteer, please visit seniormeals.org or call (409)892-4455

WOW! Imagine having your lunch delivered with one of these beautiful smiles. That’s the treat our Meals on Wheels clients have in store for them when the team from Pumptex knocks on the door. Using their lunch hour to deliver a hot lunch and the touch of a friend has become the favorite office routine. Thank You, Pumptex!! #Americaletsdolunch

Mateusz Bukovicky is part of a Generation of Dedicated Givers. He is a Lamar University grad student and many of his colleagues show us, by their example, that these extraordinary young people are tuned into the needs of other people. Matthew is another volunteer who went to our website to tell us he wanted to join our Meals on Wheels Delivery Team. I know our clients love opening the door to see his handsome smiling face. Thank you, Mateusz!! Showing America that our youth care. #Americaletsdolunch

Now this is a TEAM! This amazing group from Southeast Texas Regional Planning Commission volunteers as a team to deliver two routes for Meals on Wheels every week. When teams work together there is always someone available to deliver without inconveniencing anyone. Volunteers don’t have to do it alone. We love teamwork. Thank you SETRPC!! #Americaletsdolunch

There’s no argument that this beautiful young mother has a life with few free moments, but she went to the Meals on Wheels website and completed the form telling us she wanted to volunteer. Now she delivers one day every week and takes the children with her. What a blessing for these precious children to grow up learning from their dedicated mom and the clients they serve. What a blessing they are to our agency and our clients. A BIG THANK YOU to Team Amanda. #Americaletsdolunch
