Now serving lunch in Nederland!! We take much pleasure in introducing Karen and Foster Stanley who just joined our #MealsonWheels team. They will deliver in Nederland where we are in great need of more volunteers! Kudos to the Stanleys - another couple serving together!

THANK YOU St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Beaumont, Texas for choosing to come to Nutrition & Services for Seniors. Last Sunday members of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church took their church service into the community instead of gathering in their Sanctuary for their traditional Worship Service. How fortunate for us to be the chosen project by this fabulous energetic group. They packaged over 300 bags of pet food for our AniMeals program that provides food for the pets of our clients who can’t afford to purchase it themselves. Love and Service in Action!

Harvey’s Heros in action. Ashiqur Rahman and Progga Chirontoni just walked in the door ready to help and they did! They delivered a Meals on Wheels route, came back did another route, came back did another route and said they would return next day to do more. Natives of Bangladesh Progga is an under-graduate and Ashiqur is a candidate for a PHD in electrical engineering at Lamar University.

WOW! To be in their midst and see them in action is amazing beyond words. These members of the 49th Transportation Battalion of the US Army rolled in with trucks of water for our Meals on Wheels clients. Not only the water but their energy and loving spirit gave all of us a huge boost that will last beyond the water supply and the storm. What a privilege to have them serving our country. They are stationed at Fort Hood in Killeen but presently in a Houston Academy Store’s Parking lot with tents and cots as their barracks.

How about this Army!! A Labor of Love on Labor Day. This Army of volunteers just showed up, totally unsolicited, because they wanted to help. In a brief four hour period on this ”holiday” morning they assembled 5,300 shelf stables meals to be delivered to our Meals on Wheels clients this week. Our staff has expected to labor long hours every day to keep up with the demand, but by noon on Monday the entire week’s supply was ready for delivery. We live in an amazing loving community.

Passing it on—Helping each other. Nutrition & Services for Seniors didn’t need these cases of bread donated by Jonathan Naas of M&I Electric so we called Paula Tate O'Neal who picked them up for The Some Other Place. We’re all working together to care for our community. Thank You Jonathan. An extra treat, a handsome Lt. Colonel helping load the bread into Paula’s truck.

The activity in a beehive pales in comparison to that of a group of Boy and Girl Scouts and friends with the mission of assembling 1500 shelf stable meals for our NSS Meals on Wheels clients. This posed photo in front of the filled cases is only a hint of the activity that rocked the building Monday morning. We are working on posting the video so everyone can really appreciate the way they attacked the job. They are our ROCK STARS!

Well, our Community Outreach Coordinator didn’t win the helicopter ride at the recent BBB monthly breakfast held at Beaumont RotorWing Academy, but she did get this fun photo with handsome Robert Peavey from PumpTex, Inc. When you fill your car with gas think of PumpTex because they maintain the pumps and keep the gas flowing. But at Meals on Wheels we think of Robert and his colleagues who take their lunch hour to deliver Meals to our clients. Thank you Pumptex for keeping us rolling.
