Bruce Hoffer and Company from Temple Emanuel along with Nutrition & Services for Seniors spent the morning picking blueberries at the Griffin Blueberry Farm for the Meals on Wheels clients at NSS! Special thanks to Bruce Hoffer, Arlette Collins, Sarah Hawes, Gene Thomas, Kayla White and Colin for your help! Many thanks to the Griffin Blueberry Farm for allowing us to visit your farm and pick blueberries to be delivered to our homebound neighbors!
We were once again honored by a donation from our friend, Pastor Stewart and the Disabled American Veterans!! Thank you all so much for supporting us in our mission to deliver the differnce to the homebound and disabled in our community!!
St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Beaumont held it's annual grant ceremony on May 17th, in which several area non-profit's are awarded grant funds from the St. Mark's Annual Chili Supper and the Treasure House! This year, Nutrition & Services for Seniors is proud to announce that we were one of the recipients of a grant that will enable our transportation drivers to have remote access to ensure a higher level of safety for our clients!! Thank you again to St. Mark's for helping us 'deliver the difference' to our homebound neighbors!
.ORG is a group of local business professionals and leaders within our community who gather for a meeting each month to share their ideas, expertise and much more with thier colleagues and friends! We're delighted to be a part of this wonderful group where we are given the ability to network, connect with area businesses and help to strengthen Southeast Texas!! We were thrilled to attend the April 10th meeting and we encourage anyone looking for a networking group in our area to consider joining!!
They make an impressive photo and what a great meal they provided for our Nutrition & Services for Seniors Real Food Feast. This is Chef Charles Duitand his Lamar University Culinary Students who prepared and served a unique and delicious gluten-free meal for a sold-out culinary feast on March 21. After dinner, Dr. Robert Corbett, Lamar University Botany Professor, added to the guests’ culinary knowledge by sharing foodie experiences in Peru. This casual event with good food and good conversations has become one of our favorite events at NSS! All proceeds from the Real Food Feast benefit the Nutrition & Services for Seniors 'Grow to Share' donation garden!
Our hearts soared when Allyson Lattimore from ExxonMobil arrived with her car full of warm blankets and other comfort items for our Meals on Wheels clients. These thoughtful gifts, arriving on a cold day, were collected by the Black Employee Success Team (BEST) of ExxonMobil. This loving support not only helps ensure our clients comfort but equally important makes them know their lives matter and others care about their well-being.
With great appreciation we salute the Monsignor Kelly Catholic High SchoolBulldogs for making Nutrition & Services for Seniors part of their Community Service Day. We look forward to this day every year when about 20 students and their adult sponsors bring their wonderful youthful energy into our agency ready to do any job we need done. As the photos show, they did many jobs. Stacks of old records were shredded, filing was done, 1300 shelf stable meals were assembled, our Seniors were served lunch in the Dining Center and Meals on Wheels were delivered on five routes. THANK YOU BULLDOGS! It was a GREAT Friday. #NoSeniorHungry#AmericaLetsDoLunch
